Abstract

The South African National Parks (SANParks) was established according to the Protected Areas Act, 2003, with the aim to manage the biodiversity conservation of South Africa and the heritage of these landscapes through national parks (Pro tected Areas Act 2003).Throughout its history, SANParks has had a good record of biodiversity conservation, achieved through well-defined management ob jectives combined with monitoring programmes (Swemmer & Taljaard, 2011).
