Abstract
Holstein-Friesians are a breed of dairy cattle that like cold weather so they cannot tolerate high temperature in Thailand. Dairy farming in Thailand is inevitably faced with heat stress, as Thailand is a tropical country. Therefore, dairy cows were developed as a crossbred Holstein with local dairy cows to improve immunity and better weather resistance, but dairy cows were also affected by heat stress. The effect of heat stress is decreased milk production, dairy health problems. The solution to the heat stress problem of dairy farmers is to monitor the panting behavior of the dairy cows, measure the temperature in the dairy farm, and then reduce the heat stress in the dairy cows by turning on the ventilation fans, mixing roughage to increase the feeding of dairy cows. These solutions are to help increase the milk yield of dairy cows and also reduce the morbidity of dairy cows. However, solving the heat stress problem in dairy cows as mentioned requires both time and human resources to monitor the symptoms of dairy cows, the authors therefore proposed a system for automatic thermal stress level measurement in dairy cows by measuring the heat stress level in dairy cows using the Temperature Humidity Index (THI) equation to calculate the heat stress level in dairy cows and alert via Line Notify to dairy farmers in real time using microcontroller board in system development.
