Abstract

A field experiment was conducted during “Rabi” (November-February) of 2016-17 at HRS Kondamallepally, Nalgonda to study the “Effect of organic manures and biofertilizer on growth and yield of coriander” cv. Suguna. The experiment was laid out in Randomized Block Design (RBD) consisting of modes of application of organic manures like FYM, Vemicompost, Jeevamaruth and seed inoculation of biofertilizers (Azospirillum+ PSB+ K- mobilizer). The results emanated from the experiment revealed that the different organic manures with seed inoculation of biofertilizers were found to have a significant effect on all the growth, yield parameters and soil nutrient status and microbial properties. Among the treatments jeevamaruth @ 200 lt ha-1+ Azospirillum+ PSB + K- mobilizer showed the maximum effect on growth parameters like plant height, herbage yield, number of primary and secondary branches of the plant. Yield parameters like number umbels per plant, umbellet per umbel, seeds weight per umbel, seed yield per plant, plot and per hectare, fresh and dry weight of the plant were significantly affected by vemricompost @ 3 t ha-1 + Azospirillum + PSB + K- mobilizer. Significantly higher nutrient content, nutrient uptake, soil respiration and soil dehydrogenase activity were recorded with application of vermicompost @ 3 t ha-1 + Azospirillum + PSB + K- mobilizer (500 g ha-1) over the sole application of organic manures and biofertilizers inoculated seeds. However, the higher gross and net returns were obtained with vemricompost @ 3 t ha-1 + Azospirillum + PSB + Kmobilizer (500 g ha-1). While, application of jeevamruth recorded as higher B:C ratio over all other treatments. Though, seed inoculation with biofertilizers along with application of different organic manures was found superior over sole application of organic manures but significant difference between application of organic manures at different levels was at par. From the present investigation it can be concluded that growing of coriander with the combined use of organic manures and biofertilizers seed inoculation was found effective in promoting growth, yield, available NPK in soil, NPK content in plant, NPK uptake by plant, soil respiration and soil dehydrogenase activity.
