Abstract
In this article, distribution, damage and techniques for controlling of the woolly apple aphid Eriosoma lanigerum in Xinjiang, especially in Ili are studied. To this day harm of Eriosoma lanigerum happens in Ining,Xinyuan,Gongliu, four counties in Xinjiang and Regimental Farms 61,62 of Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps.Woolly apple aphid has 12 or 15 generations in a year, with generation overlapping. It is able to overwinter as nymphs in natural condition. The nymphs of wooly apple aphid are able to overwinter in different places such as in tree trunk,in main branches,in side shoots, node, old bark, under dead twigs and withered leaves, under soil layer of 0-7 cm etc.The survival rate of nymphs living in crack of tree bark and under the tree was higher than that on the tree.
