A Study on the TBT Countermeasures of Korean Companies from the CEO’s Perspective

Free trade is the most important principle in the WTO. The expansion of FTA and RTA limits the application of tariffs as a means of protective trade. As a result, many countries use non-tariff barriers to protect themselves and they are very diverse. In particular, the use of TBT as a part of protective trade is continuously increasing. TBT will disrupt a free trade between countries and create trade disputes. It will also result in contrary to the basic principles of the WTO. This study focuses on TBT among non-tariff measures related to trade. The purpose of this study is to analyze cases related to TBT and to provide countermeasures to korean companies. As a countermeasure against TBT, korean companies prepare the technology regulation monitoring through TBT notice, the establishment of countermeasure strategy through TBT type analysis by country, and enhancing global influence through linkage with the international community.
