Abstract

This paper presents a new configuration of a reconfigurable circularly polarized microstrip antenna employing switchable short-ended microstrip line perturbations. Diodes are integrated between the radiating patch element and perturbation segments for switchable function. Since simple short-ended microstrip lines are used as perturbations, simple structure with no additional bias networks is realized. Circular polarization switching capability between RHCP and LHCP is obtained by changing the switching voltage to the diodes. In this paper, the performance of the proposed antenna is discussed by simulated and experimental results.
