Abstract
Most of the damage caused to highway and airfield pavements are caused by traffic impact and weather actions on water trapped in slow-draining systems. This book presents information on effective drainage systems, covering the fundamental aspects of pavement drainage, inflow/outflow estimation, criteria for designing subsurface drains, and safeguards of subsurface drainage systems. The author also reports on the economics of drained and undrained pavements, noting the exorbitant cost of replacing pavements due to poor or no drainage systems.
