Abstract

【Objective】Correlation between body size and slaughter performance of Princess Chicken was studied to provide theoretical references for breeding superior varieties. 【Method】12-week-old Princess Chicken was used to measure its live weight, body size and slaughter performance indexes and then correlation and regression analysis were conducted using SPSS 19.0. 【Result】The results showed that keel length, shinbone girth and shank length of male 12-week-old Princess Chicken were significantly higher than those of female chickens(P0.05, the same hereinafter). The live weight, carcass weight, semi-eviscerated weight, eviscerated weight, chest muscle weight, leg muscle weight, wings weight and feet weight of male were extremely significantly higher than those of female chickens(P0.01, the same hereinafter). Abdominal fat weight of male was significantly lower than that of female chickens, and abdominal fat percentage of male was extremely significantly lower than that of female chickens, but there was no significant difference among other indicators(P0.05). There were significantly positive correlations among keel length, live weight, carcass weight, semi-eviscerated weight, chest muscle weight and the leg muscle weight. Keel length was significantly positively related to eviscerated weight and negatively related to abdominal fat. There were extremely significantly positive correlations among shinbone girth, live weight, carcass weight, semi-eviscerated weight, eviscerated weight and leg muscle weight. Shinbone girth was extremely negatively related to chest muscle weight and negatively related to abdominal fat. 【Conclusion】As slaughter performance has significant or extremely significant relation with body size indicators, slaughter performance can be predicted by an regression equation of relevant body size indicators.
