Abstract

Objective Understand the infection status of Angiostrongylus cantonensis in main intermediate host sampled from market and restaurant in Guiyang. Methods Pomacea canaliculata and Achatina fulica were collected randomly from fishery free market and snacks at night market, and the third-stage larva of A.cantonensis were separated and detected with lung-microscopy and enzyme digestion. Results The third-stage larva of A.cantonensis of snail samples were found, and the infections rate of A.fulica was higher than P.canaliculata. In market, the average infections rate of A.fulica and P.canaliculata were 3.08% and 1.59% respectively. While in snacks at night market, the average infections rate of A.fulica and P.canaliculata were 19.75% and 0.71%. Saled snail in Guiyang market came from other province. Conclusion There were risk factors of A.cantonensis prevalence in market and restaurant of Guiyang. It should strengthen market management, food-safety inspection, and health education in public.
