Composition and Status of Fishes of Nanla River in Xishuangbanna,Yunnan,China

Abstract

From March 2006 to March 2007,investigations on fishes in Luosuo River,a branch of the Lancangjiang River downstream were carried out,5765 specimen were collected,in which there are a total of 46 species belonging to 4 orders,10 families,and 37 genera in Luosuo River.The species of Cypriniformes are dominant,including 31 species.Siluriformes Perciformes have 10 species.Perciformes have 4 species.Synbranchiformes have 1 species.Compared with historical recordation data,the number of fish species of Luosuo River has declined from 73 to 46.Three endangered fish in China Red Data Book of Endangered Animals Fishes were collected,which are Hampala macrolepidota,Bagarius bagarius,Kryptopterus moorei.The composing of Fish fauna of the Luosuo River is mainly made up of 'old Tertiary groups' of tropical rivers and flood plains,which is typical in tropical Southeast Asia.The fishes of Luosuo River are impacted by overfishing,water pollution,introduced species.
