Abstract

Yesanhan cucumber is an ideal genotype for somatic embryogenesis. The sucrose concentrations in embryogenic callus formation stage and somatic embryogenesis stage were 9% and 6% respectively, which promoted the frequency of somatic embryogenesis. When embryo inducing medium contained 6 BA at 0.5 mg·L -1 , the frequency of somatic embryogenesis reached 67.8%. Mannitol used together with sucrose at callus induction stage could increase the frequency of somatic embryogenesis to 82.2%.
