Abstract
Forage variety test was conducted to Pnnisetum purpureum Schumach cv.Huanan, thin stemmed P.purpureum and P.amcrieanum×P.purpureum in Fujian. Under the same field management condition and planting density (60 cm×43 cm), the average fresh grass yields were 346.29, 301.63 and 283.33 t·hm-2 respectively. The tillering ability was the highest in P.amcrieanum×P.purpureum and the lowest in P.purpureum Schumach.cv.Huanan. Sample analysis indicated that the crude protein contents were 8.75% in P.purpureum Schumach.cv.Huanan, 11.25% in thin stemmed P.purpureum, and 10.55% in P.amcrieanum×P.purpureum.
