Abstract

Gastro-esophageal reflux disease(GERD)is defined as a disorder which gastric contents reflow into the esophagus,causing troublesome symptoms and/or complications.As one of the most common gastrointestinal disease in the west,GERD imposes a heavy burden on economics of the society and impairs the quality of the patients' life.The prevalence of GERD is reported to be lower in Asia than in Western countries.However,the prevalence is also reported to be increasing,which arouses the attention of people.Here we summarized the results of current study,give a highlight to the progress of epidemiological study and advice on future study.
