Abstract

Objective To set up a real-time-PCR assay for the detection of norovirus RNA in stool samples from diarrhea cases in suspected norovirus infection epidemic, provide reliable and accurate technical support for the epidemic control. Methods The RNA extracted from 18 stool samples were detected for the norovirus nucleic acid by real-time-PCR. ResultsNorovirus nucleic acid was detected in 13 of 18 stool samples with the positive rate of 72.2%. Of 13 positive samples,6 were norovirus genotype I positive,6 were norovirus genotype Ⅱ positive,1 was both genotype I and genotype Ⅱ positive. Conclusion The real-time-PCR could be used to detect norovirus RNA and provide accurate and reliable results.
