Abstract
A water superabsorbent, copolymer of acrylic acid and acrylamide(P(AA-AM)) was prepared by means of water solution copolymerization with potassium persulfate as initiator,N,N'-methy-lene-bis-acrylamide as crosslinking agent. The influence of mole ratio of acrylamide(AM) to acrylic acid(AA),degree of neutralization of AA,the amount of crosslinking agent and initiator, and reaction temperature on water absorbence(Q) was investigated. The absorbency for water of the superabsorbent prepared at the best condition was about 750 g · g-1 in distilled water and 85 g · g-1 in 0.9 % NaCl solution, respectively.
