Abstract
Objective To investigate the application of cerebral state index(CSI) monitoring in the elderly undergoing general anesthesia.Methods Sixty patients aged(70±10)years old undergoing general anesthesia were equally randomized into two groups.The patients in group A were given anesthetic drugs guided by CSI level of 50±5 and those in group B according to the clinical experience.The MAP,HR,SpO2 and CSI were monitored before induction(T0),at 3 min after intubation(T1),during surgical exploration(T2) and at the end of operation(T3).The time of awakening from anesthesia was recorded.Results The MAP and HR in group B were lower at T1-T3 than those at T0(P0.05),which were stable in group A.CSI values at T1 and T2 were higher in group B than those in group A(P0.05).In group B,the awareness during operation occurred in 2 cases and delayed awakening in 8 cases.Conclusion Management of general anesthesia with a guidance of CSI is helpful in maintaining hemodynamic stability and avoiding awareness during operation.
