Abstract

The theoreticalframework is based on social system theory in the form of action(T.Parsons) and the structure-agency of Anthony Giddens. The population is20 to 29 years old of Sari and Babol. 280 people were selected as the sample size. Sampling method is multi-stage and systematic random. The searchmethod is survey. Seven hypotheses have been studied and the following results wereobtained: Education level and social class have negatively and inversely related tosocial trust. Human communication, family's socialization and religiousbeliefs have a direct or positive relationship with social trust. Sum of thesevariables explained 43.2% of social trust changes. Variables of humancommunication and family's socialization have the greatest effect on youthsocial trust. Results indicate that the basic trust among the youth is more than otherforms of trust (generalized trust and abstract trust). Also trust within a groupis more considered rather than outside the group.
