Abstract

Torque ripple is a significant issue in switched reluctance motors (SRM). SRM has numerous preferences over various machines, despite the high torque ripple and vibration. A systematic approach to analyze the torque ripple and average torque production of an SRM is presented in this paper. A mathematical model of the SRM drive system which consists of the motor, power converter, and the current controller is introduced. In this paper, two current control strategies such as Hysteresis and Proportional-integral (PI) controller are considered. To investigate the performance of the SRM; simulations are completed on the MATLAB/SIMULINK platform and the dynamic behavior of the SRM is compared for various turn-off angles and reference torque with the variation of control parameters.
