Abstract
typical sections of fifteen freeways with different terrain, traffic volume and geometric alignment in China were investigated and analysed for speed distribution, speed changing rule and correlative influence factor with the operation speed for cars over even and straight section used as the gist of speed limit. Models have been established for the relationship between operation speed and radius and the relationship between operation speed and gradient by means of regression analysis. Methods have been suggested to decide the rational speed limit and the rational speed limit value for the curved section and the gradient section of freeways in China from the viewpoint of operational management.
A significance statement is not available in the OpenAlex record.
