Abstract
Highway safety design and evaluation has been discussed in this paper,authors put forward a method for highway safety design based on computer simulation,which is supported by ADAMS software. This method makes the virtual object available for highway safety evaluation with the construction of vehicle models,driver models and 3D road models on computers. Highway designers are allowed to study the relationship between the designed route parameter and vehicle motion and evaluate their safety by the real-time velocity which is acquired from the execution of these models on computer. This method provides some live mathematical models for highway safety evaluation,and the models have lots of advantages such as,convenience on model parameter adjustment,direct visual data display,high speed and saving of expense.
