Abstract
Objective To study the epidemical characteristics of bacillary dysentery in Cixi city and provide scientific basis for the prevention and control of the diseases.Methods The annual cases of bacillary dysentery were reported to Cixi municipal CDC from 1996-2008.The data were analyzed with SPSS,and descriptive epidemiological analysis was adopted.Results 5 252 cases of bacillary dysentery were reported in Cixi city from 1996 to 2008,with annual incidence rate of 22.33/lakh-52.01/lakh.The incidence rate had been decreasing during the period.The epidemic season of the disease was from July to October.Children aged 0-9 were high risk population(29.25% of cases).Conclusion The outbreaks of bacillary dysentery were associated with health behaviors and safety of food and drink water.It is important to implement the preventive actions,which includes educating residents with healthy behaviors,decreasing the chances drink water contamination and the reinforcement of management of food related business.
