Abstract

Transport has always had a significant impact on the development of the economy, and with the development of demand, it also developed so that simple conventional modes of transport have led to modern transport technologies. The railway system is one of the transport systems characterized by many advantages due to which today there is a trend of switching transport from other transport systems to railway and the trend of interaction of the railway system with other transport systems, that is the development of multimodal and combined transport, which, as modern modes of transport, successfully connect almost all transport systems. Although most multimodal and combined transport is carried by the road, various measures are being taken to switch to the rail system. In the Republic of Croatia, multimodal and combined transport are not at the level they are in other EU countries, given that most transport takes place in a conventional way by road, but in recent years these types of transport have been developing.
