Abstract

Purpose This study analyzes the logistics determinants of import and export volume in the hinterland of Tianjin Port. Design/Methodology/Approach The panel data analysis is used to provide empirical evidence of significantly impacts of economic and logistics performance. Panel data are employed such as regional economy, logistics and dummy variables such as whether or not to have a dry port in 80 hinterland cities in the 12 administrative districts of Tianjin Port during 2002 and 2017. Findings As a result of empirical analysis, economy and logistics factors play significant roles in determining the volume of imports and exports in the hinterland of Tianjin Port. Research Implications Logistics infrastructure including an inland port as it contributes to better logistics performance should be constructed in the hinterland of port since it has significantly a positive effect on the increasing volume of imports and exports.
