Abstract
The buildings with shear walls improve the lateral load resistance. The shear walls with openings are provided for functional requirement. Therefore, in the present paper, analytical parametric studies were done for the shear walls with and without openings for different shapes, such as centrally core (Box type), at two opposite corners (L-Shape) and intermediate (Bay type), having only columns fixed, columns and shear wall fixed and only shear wall fixed. Equivalent Static Analysis and Response Spectrum Analysis were carried for the buildings. The parameters studied were base shear and shear wall stresses using the STAAD Pro V8i software package.
