Abstract

Metarhizium anisopliae is one of the inscet pathogenic fungi that can infect more than 200 insect species. The process of host infection includes spore adhering, cuticle penetration, hemocoel colonization and host death.Molecular biology methods, such as EST,microarray, gene knock-out and RNAi,have elucidated pathogenic processes in M.anisopliae and have played important role in the application of M.anisopliae as bioinsecticides. This paper reviews genes concerning adhering, penetration and colonization during the fungus infecting the host, and summarizes their gene product.
