Abstract
The waste constitutes a serious problem for the environment, and tackling to it is a challenge for many nations around the world. Hence observing the statements, we could say that “Energy recovery from waste” is also a better option along with others in the hierarchy of solid waste management. And it is found that the organic waste serves as useful raw material for recovery of energy or valuable material like compost, because organic waste contains the necessary micro-organism (acid formers and the methane formers) for anaerobic decomposition and subsequently gaining of compost or biogas. The material used consists of bakery waste such as bread, biscuits as a feedstock for anaerobic digestion and generating biogas from it. Bakery waste is an organic food waste hence could be used for biogas production. The anaerobic digestion of organic materials has long been widely used for generating useful resources, which have been harnessed for the use of human being. Biogas, which is one of the byproducts of anaerobic digestion, comprises about 60% methane and 40% carbon dioxide. It has been widely used as a source of fuel in rural and urban areas in countries like India, China, Sweden, Bangladesh etc. for lighting and cooking purposes and the amalgamation of above-mentioned waste materials is a best bio feed for recovering energy.
