Crime Pattern Detection Using Data Mining

In the current scenario as crime is increasing day by day it is becoming a challenge for the investigating agencies to have control on this. Again criminals are adopting new techniques and formulae to perform crime so that it would be difficult for law enforcement department to catch them. Hence crime analysis, detection and prediction becomes essential now-a-days. For this we need to go through previous crime records, analyze them, then classification/regression algorithms can be applied basing on requirement in order to predict the next occurrence of crime. So that next crime can be checked before being committed. As a procedure learned rules from training set are applied on test set in order to obtain predicted output. Several other data mining techniques can be a great help towards solving the problem. By going through this literature one can have a brief idea regarding what has been done in this regard and can acquire knowledge in facing the problem in a different way. This paper also puts light on several criminal analysis methods in use till date.
