Abstract

Background: Anaplasma and Ehrlichia (Rickettsiales: Anaplasmataceae) are intracellular Gram-negative bacteria of medical and veterinary importance that infect monocytes, neutrophils, endothelial cells or platelets, depending upon the species involved.
