Abstract
The number of devices connected to a network within a modern home is growing day by day. These connected devices, such as, light control, security and alarm control, window controller, environment monitoring, door control, motion sensors, have turned modern homes into pervasive computing paradigm. This research focuses on characteristics and architecture of pervasive computing. The goal is to serve as a guideline for researchers who are new to pervasive computing and to provide further research directions. It also presents some research developments in this area along with open issues and challenges.
