Abstract
The purpose of this study is to suggest future research through analyzing the research trends of coaching leadership on refereed journals in South Korea. To this end, this study analyzes the research trends of coaching leadership for 81 articles published on the registered (candidate) journals in the areas of publication years, samplings, measurement scales, fields of study, research methods, and research models of empirical studies. The analysis results are as follows. First, for the year of publication, the studies of coaching leadership have been dramatically increased since 2015 and the largest number of studies were published in 2018. Second, the field of research was mainly studied in the area of social science. Third, for the research method, empirical studies were mainly conducted and diverse methods such as the case study, meta-analysis, and scale development have been performed since 2010. Fourth, for measurement scales, 68 of 73 empirical studies were able to identify scales and 50 of the 68 studies adopted Stowell’s (1986) scale. Fifth, 39 of 73 studies were sampled from corporations. Sixth, for research models in empirical studies, coaching leadership was examined as an independent variable in 63 studies, and organizational commitment was frequently reviewed as the effectiveness of coaching leadership. In addition, 50 studies reviewed the effects of mediating variables, whereas just 13 articles studied the effects of moderating variables.
