Conflictos socio-ambientales en los límites de los parques naturales en África: caracterización y estrategias de solución de los conflictos entre comunidades y animales silvestres en el Parque Nacional Kibale - KNP- Uganda

Kibale National Park - KNP is a park located in the western part of Uganda, where there is great interest by foreign tourists to visit the populations of chimpanzees (Pan troglodytes) that live there. The park is located within a matrix of the landscape, where there are many human settlements of rural populations, in which there are agricultural activities, in small-scale, as the ones that the - communities have for their subsistence, and large-scale as the tea plantations. For this work, the KNP conflict registry matrix from 2008-2017 was used. For the study period, it was found that for the five (5) districts surrounding Kibale Park, 60% of the incidents were recorded in the Kabarole district. In terms of conflict, approximately 15 wild animals were with which there were incidents where it was found that 93% of the incidents were with elephants.
