Myxedema and hypercholesterolemia

Abstract
Postoperative myxedema is accompanied by hypercholesterolemia. Subtotal thyroidectomy can be accompanied by hypercholesterolemia without manifestations of myxedema, which can be considered as mild and temporary thyroid insufficiency. Thyrodectomy can be accompanied by a decrease in basal metabolism without hypercholesterolemia, and in such cases, the appearance of myxedema is extremely rare.
