Abstract

 Are streamlined or semi-automated. Produce regular quantitative evidence for quota setting, stock status classification and ecological risk assessments. Provide timely and contemporary data for web-dashboard reporting. Implications for relevant stakeholdersAdoption and use of SS may inform new management procedures designed under the Queensland Government's Sustainable Fisheries Strategy.viii Recommendations DAF and FRDC through the National Research Providers Network discuss ideas for a national platform for stock assessments. This relates to FRDC 2014-039 recommendation -national committee established for stock assessment collaborations and review processes. This suggestion has not yet been actioned.Questions on stock assessment methods, consistency, repeatability, review and modernisation preferably need national views.Discussions on national SS use and training ideas are relevant.A national species stock-assessment schedule and list of data and suitable methodology (such as using SS) would support national discussions and collaborations. In 2020-2021, DAF to further investigate and apply SS on species conducive to the software methodology.
