Abstract

Rapid urbanization has led cities to undergo immense pressure and its potential in providing environmental sustainability is highly limited. In the 20 th century, nature-based solution is an emerging concept that integrates ecosystem-based approaches to increase urban resilience and addresses the various societal challenges faced in the urban environment. However, given the wide range of multi-functional ecosystem services and their trade-offs, implementation of nature-based solutions is inherently complex. In this regard, this research paper exclusively focuses on urban green space management and analyses the ability of nature-based solutions through urban green spaces in improving the quality of life and positively contributing to urban resilience. The paper explores, the extent to which urban green space management impact the quality of life and examine the potential of developing urban green space management in the urban environment. As such, with the help of appropriate planning and design, nature-based solutions through urban green space management affect the quality of life and improve urban resilience. A renewed socio spatial approach for reshaping existing and or creating urban green spaces thereby improving urban resilience in urban environment is presented. The paper offers socio spatial insights for urban planners, architects and urban designers in developing nature-based solutions through urban green space managements in cities.
