The aim of this work is to present the role of a nurse in the care of a dialysed peritoneal patient. The nurse from the peritoneal dialysis department is actively involved in the therapy process from qualification to renal replacement therapy, catheter implantation, through training, dialysis center visits, to complication hospitalization. Thanks to education, it improves the effectiveness of dialysis, reduces the risk of complications and simultaneously improves quality of life. Keywords: nurse, peritoneal dialysis, chronic kidney disease Streszczenie Pomimo ciągłego rozwoju nauk medycznych stale zwiększa się liczba pacjentów z przewlekłą chorobą nerek, w tym również wymagający leczenia dializami otrzewnowymi. Celem pracy jest przedstawienie roli pielęgniarki w opiece nad pacjentem dializowanym otrzewnowo. Pielęgniarka z oddziału dializ otrzewnowych aktywnie uczestniczy w procesie terapii od momentu kwalifikacji do leczenia nerkozastępczego, implantacji cewnika, poprzez szkolenia, wizyty kontrolne w ośrodku dializ, aż po hospitalizacje z powodu powikłań. Dzięki prowadzonej edukacji poprawia efektywność dializy, zmniejsza ryzyko powikłań i jednocześnie wpływa na poprawę jakość życia pacjenta.
