Abstract

Agile values “individuals and interactions over processes and tools” and “working software over comprehensive documentation” (Agile Manifesto, 2001). This being the case, it is important that any practical application of agile focuses on agile teams and their collaboration and commitment to working agile and functioning as a committed team. My own practical experience combined with countless practitioner and student discussions shows that building high-performing project teams is one of the hardest parts of project management, regardless of the approach. Adopting agile practices does not make this any easier – in fact, agile can make this initially more challenging.
