Abstract
The results of a calculation of the $T=0$ and $T=2$ $S$-wave $\ensuremath{\pi}\ensuremath{\pi}$ elastic scattering phase shifts in the $\ensuremath{\rho}$ region are presented. Two solutions are found for both. One set for ${{\ensuremath{\delta}}_{0}}^{0}$ does not pass through 90\ifmmode^\circ\else\textdegree\fi{}. The physically acceptable solution for the ${{\ensuremath{\delta}}_{0}}^{2}$ phase shift is found to be small ($|{{\ensuremath{\delta}}_{0}}^{2}|<{20}^{\ensuremath{\circ}}$). The absorption corrections are essential for the determination of ${{\ensuremath{\delta}}_{0}}^{0}$.
