Abstract

Communist Party members are the advanced elements of the proletariat. They must act consciously according to the five points stipulated in the Party Constitution as being the &s;essential tasks&s; of Communist Party members. They must strictly discipline themselves to fully develop their exemplary vanguard role in the Three Great Revolutionary Struggles and lead the vast revolutionary masses in the struggle to carry out the Party&s;s basic line and to accomplish all combat missions. The leadership function is to provide leadership in carrying out and defending Chairman Mao&s;s revolutionary line and in thoroughly carrying out the Party&s;s strategies, policies, and any instructions or decisions of upper levels. To develop more successfully the exemplary vanguard role within the masses, Communist Party members must uphold a high standard and strict demands and, in every regard and at all times, exhort and drive themselves according to the standards of the advanced elements of the proletariat.
