Abstract
This chapter focuses on the problems caused by known and emerging plant diseases to crop production and the various environmental factors that aggravate these problems. Some challenges to crop production, food security and plant disease management are addressed and the benefits of the increased knowledge of plant diseases and their management practices in ascertaining increased crop productivity are highlighted.
