Abstract
The article is devoted to the study of the development of economic and ethno-territorial characteristics of the population engaged in agriculture in the Surkhan oasis. The territory is located in the southern part of Uzbekistan. On the basis of archival sources and literature, the authors analyzed the natural and geographical conditions of agriculture and the location of ethnographic groups living in the Surkhan oasis, such as the Chagatai, who are mainly engaged in agriculture.
