Abstract
This study aims to reveal the physical changes of obese children as well as their ST segments and myocardial oxygen uptake during the bicycle ergometer exercise at 60% V˙O_2 max of the maximum work load. 14 elementary school boys were chosen: 7 for the obesity group(fat≥20%) and 7 for the control group(fat20%). During the work load of 60% V˙O_2max in the exercise with a bicycle ergometer, aerobic capacity, oxygen uptake and the changes of ST segments were examined. The following are the conclusions : 1. Oxygen uptake was similar at rest in both groups, but the obesity group tended to show higher values 1 minute after the exercise. From 5 minutes after the bicycle ergometer exercise, the obesity group was significantly higher(p.05). 2. The ST level showed no difference between the two groups at rest, while both groups tended to decrease during the 60% V˙O_2max exercise. 3. The ST slope indicated no significant difference at rest, but each group revealed a tendency of increase during the 60% V˙O_2max bicycle ergometer exercise. 4. The ST index in both groups tended to increase during the bicycle ergometer exercise at 60% V˙O_2max. As described above, fat children showed some significant changes in oxygen uptake during the 60% V˙O_2max bicycle ergometer exercise. Also, during the exercise, the ST level was lowered, while the ST slope grew up.
