Abstract
This study investigate the effects of physical exercise on the subjective appetite ratings and circulating acylated ghrelin and peptide YY levels for appetite related hormones in breakfast skippers. Twenty breakfasts skipping participants randomly were divided into control group(n=10) or exercise group(n=10). Exercise intervention consisted of 60 minutes moderate aerobic exercise for 5 days. Appetite including hunger, desire to eat, prospective food consumption, and fullness were assessed by questionnaire at fasting state on the morning. Then blood sample collected to determine circulating acylated ghrelin and peptide YY levels. In contrast control group, 5 days exercise increased prospective food consumption that is accompanied by fasting acylated ghrelin concentration increase(p.05), which is related to appetite promotion. However, exercise did not significantly affect fasting peptide YY levels which is related to satiety. Thus, exercise induced effects on subjective appetite level and acylated ghrelin are expected possibly to play a role for improvement of breakfast skipping habit.
