Abstract
This paper deals with the digital convergence of the media, and informative news portals were selected as an example of this process. In the first part of the paper, the concept of media is elaborated, which is divided into traditional, converged traditional media (new media) and the so-called new new media. Furthermore, the paper presents the division of each of these media due to the clarity of the emergence of informative news portals as a consequence of the digital convergence of the media. As digital convergence has emerged as one of the characteristics of digital culture, the next chapter of this paper deals with new, converged media whose mediator that enabled their emergence - the Internet. New values of converged traditional mass media, primarily news portals, on-demand radio and on-demand television, are explained and elaborated here. The aim of this paper is to explain the phenomenon of digital convergence and its characteristics through examples of informative news portals in relation to the traditional mass media from which they emerged - newspapers. The next chapter deals with the concept of digital convergence and informative internet portals of three Croatian daily newspapers - Vecernji list, Jutarnji list and 24sata. At the end of the paper, a comparison of the thematic, visual and content organization and the language level of the mentioned portals was made.
