Abstract

Algae is an aquatic organism that can often be used in the production of biofuels. Biofuels are a renewable, alternative source of energy that helps reduce the amount of CO 2 in the atmosphere. The growth rate of algae depends on photosynthesis and how much light is available to it. For this experiment, we are testing the rate algae will grow under varying intensities of white light. We hypothesized that as light intensity increases, more algae will grow because there is more energy provided for the algae to reproduce. However, after collecting data, we found that the algae that was exposed to less light did not necessarily show less growth.
