Abstract

Airworthiness of an aircraft can be defined as the ability of an aircraft to operate safely. It can be divided into initial and continuing airworthiness. Initial airworthiness means equipping the aircraft with all necessary and working devices, and continuing includes condition monitoring and maintenance of the aircraft in the prescribed manner. EASA regulation related to continuing airworthiness is Part M. In order to be able to fly, every aircraft, including a helicopter, must be airworthy. After the initial airworthiness of the helicopter has been issued by the competent authorities, it is necessary to manage and maintain continuing airworthiness. This final thesis deals with the requirements and responsibilities for continuing airworthiness and maintenance of helicopters. The technical-operational characteristics of the EC135 helicopter are described, and the procedures from issuance of initial airworthiness to management and extension of continuous airworthiness during operation are analyzed.
