Effect of organic manures and inorganic fertilizers on physico-chemical properties of soil and yield of soybean grown in semi-arid vertisol

Abstract

The present investigation was carried out at the AICRPDA research farm of College of Agriculture, Indore during Kharif season of 2015, to the effect of organics and inorganics application on soil properties of soybean crop grown in semi-arid vertisol. The experiment was laid out in randomized block design with 3 replications. Treatment consisted of nine different levels of N and P, Kg ha-1 with FYM and Crop residue, N20P13, N30P20, N40P26, N60P35, FYM 6t + N20P13, Crop residue 5t+ N20P13, FYM 6t, Crop residue 5t ha-1 and one control (N0P0). The results revealed that the soil properties of soybean crop grown in semi-arid vertisol. The fertility the treatment combination (FYM+N20P13) enhanced the soil properties. Maximum value of organic carbon (0.87), available Nitrogen (289.67 kg ha-1), P (21.60 kg ha-1), K (646 kg ha-1), and S (18.39 kg ha-1) were recorded with treatment combination (FYM+N20P13) and minimum in control. The similar result was found in the treatment combination (FYM+N20P13) soil Microbial count of bacteria (65x107), fungi (37x 104) and actinomycetes (33x104) cfu g-1 soil. The treatment (FYM+N20P13) also increased seed and stover yields of soybean by 71.69% and 71.70% over the control (1025 and 2206 kg/ha), respectively. Thus, balanced use of organic & inorganic fertilizers are not only provided higher productivity but also sustained fertility of soil and improved microbial population in soil.
