Abstract
Enterprise-wide process modeling initiatives are now-a-days growing and are common among enterprises cutting across industry domains. Articulation of benefits of process modeling and adopting a structured metamodel based modeling methodology for large scale process modeling initiatives are posing challenges to practitioners. With practitioner’s perspective in mind, this research attempts to address enterprise-wide process modeling efforts with a two fold research objective: 1) to understand the need and importance of enterprise process modeling through selective literature survey and 2) to define the boundary of process documentation by differentiating modeling vs. drawing; to define how to develop a conceptual metamodel for an enterprise submodel along with detailing sample metamodel for process and performance submodels.
