Abstract

Anaplastic large cell lymphoma (ALCL) may be cogitated of an infrequent category of T cell lymphomas. It may be elucidated in an estimated 10%-20% of juvenile and 3% of adult non- Hodgkin’s lymphomas. Mammoth, pleomorphic lymphoid cells with a horse shoe shaped nucleus and frequent chromosomal translocation of the anaplastic lymphoma kinase (ALK) gene in addition to the enunciation of ALK protein and immune marker CD30+ may characterize the lymphoma. Neoplasm such as primary cutaneous ALCL and ALK+ ALCL necessitate a distinction from adjunctive T and B cell lymphomas with concomitant cellular and nuclear anaplasia and/or immune demonstration of CD30+. The tumefaction of anaplastic large cell lymphoma (ALCL) may be concurrent with the immune phenotype of tumor cells. Exemplification of malignant cellular component of anaplastic lymphoma with its subsequent categorization was preliminarily delineated with immune reactivity to the cloned antibody Ki-1, which may identify a surface protein displayed on a subset of cellular components of Hodgkin’s and non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma.
