Abstract
This chapter introduces the unique properties of emerging nanomaterials for the next-generation nanodevices in the very-large-scale integration (VLSI) industry. The chapter begins with an introduction to the nanomaterials, such as carbon nanotubes (CNTs) and graphene nanoribbons (GNRs), along with a discussion on their physical configuration and band structure. Further, the applications of these nanomaterials are discussed based on their electrical, mechanical, and thermal properties. Nanomaterials are also used for interconnect applications by modeling an RLC network circuit and analyzed for their performance in terms of crosstalk-induced delay and peak noise at different interconnect lengths. In addition, nanomaterial-based sensors and other applications are also described.
