Abstract

The data of runoff and sediment yield in the watersheds on the Loess Plateau are used to analyze the characteristics of sediment yield in the single rainfall erosion event. According to mechanics of rainfall sediment yield processes in the watershed, the relationships between runoff discharge and sediment discharge of watershed have been built. Rainfall even-distribution coefficient and the antecedent affecting precipitation are taken as the principal influential factors are introduced to build the transference relationship from runoff to sediment concentration in the process of rainfall erosion sediment yield. The relationships can be used to calculate and predict the sediment yield in single rainfall event, it can also be used in the studies on soil and water loss control in watersheds.
